Each race is only $8. Race fees need to be paid prior to each race. All race fees for the entire season can be paid prior to the start of the season.
YES! Absolutely! The Long Beach Ski Club needs both ski and snowboard racers from all ability levels.
I’ve never raced before. Is there a division for people like me?YES! Race divisions are broken down based on ability level so you will only race against people who are at your own level. There are 10 ski skill levels from Expert (S1) to Beginner (S10) and 2 for snowboard. The levels are also split by men and women. There is also a split for ages 18-44 (Open) and 45+ (Vet). Vets can race in Open but not the other way around.
NO!! On race day they generally race in 3 groupings. The Experts generally start at the top of the run (called upper hill), Intermediate from the 2/3 or so (called middle hill) and lower classes from mid point (called lower hill). This allows the course to be adjusted for the various skiing / boarding ability.

No, attendance at every race is not mandatory. Just come and join us when you can. However, racing is so addicting that once you start racing you’ll find a way to be at every race!
The race league is called the Ullr race league. The Long Beach Ski Club races against other clubs from all over Southern California. Some of you may have heard of ELSKE or Chamonix race leagues, they were combined in 2001 to form Ullr. Click here to find out all you ever wanted to know about the name ULLR!
